Mothers Day Gift Soap

We have a limited supply of these beautiful heart shaped soaps for gifts and they are available now! They are a large 3"x3" (approximately) and weigh at least 5 ounces! The scents are blends and the heart is a different scent than the rest of the soap. The blue soap with the pink heart is a jasmine blend, green soap with dark pink or purple heart is the same scent as snow place like home from my xmas collection, the pink soap with yellow heart is a lemon verbena, and the light pink soap with the green heart(not shown here but on the website)is a frankincense & myrrh blend. Thank You to all of you have supported me this past year. I am planning to continue making outstanding soaps for you this year. I am looking at a new farmers market this year and will let you know more in a few weeks. You can pick up soap at my next show in Ripon, March 21 at the High School. I still have some christmas soaps available and they can be ordered on my website from the seasonal soap page. I also have some oakmoss soaps but they are not on the website. You can order them by writing it in the "comments section" of the shopping cart or email your request. July in Door County

This is our favorite camping place! We love the beach, the drive-in movies, the outdoor theatre, bike paths and the shopping! This year the weather was cool, but there was no rain, yeah! We found a new place to eat, Fred and Fuzzys near Sister Bay. They have outside seating and wonderful views with yummy food. And of course dessert at Ain't Licked Yet for custard. Something new! My sister is hosting home parties where you can buy my soaps and some soaps in scents I don't carry. You can also find massage candles, soy candles and gift baskets and more. Insect Repellent Recipe

Ah Spring! Well I think it is, we are still having alot of cool days but soon it will be summer and that means alot of mosquitos for us in Wisconsin. I am all ready having requests for a natural repellent so I will be offering this recipe for you to make your own or email me, evesoap@yahoo.com and I will make it for you. This one has worked for us.

4 oz. carrier oil(sweet almond oil, olive oil, grapeseed oil etc)
20 drops of essential oils any combination you prefer(lavender, citronella, eucalyptus, tea tree, cedar, eucalyptus, lemongrass, peppermint.)
Apply to skin that is not covered by clothing.

Out here in the country you know its spring when the babies start arriving. From the cats to the chickens to the goats. Here is a look at just a few of the babies where I get my goat milk for the soaps and lotion. Our neighbors are currently caring for approximately 500 plus baby goats. As I was talking to Gwen, the owner of these adorable little guys, the other day I could hear goats in the background and she was in her house! She was taking care of twins that were just born a few hours earlier. This doesn't happen for all babies but they all do get special attention. They all have to be fed by hand for a time before they are old enough to eat from the bucket. They have many types of goats. They are Saanen, LaMancha, Alpine, and Nubian. And yes if you look closely some don't have ears. Don't panic this is normal for that breed! Goat mothers can have anywhere between one to four babies at a time. On this farm they have had 4 sets of quads with only two sets surviving. It is much harder for quads to survive.
A few facts about goat milk:
- goats produce a high fat, creamy milk thats easily digested because its molecules are smaller than those of cows milk.
- people allergic to cows milk often drink goats milk instead because of the protein profile of goats milk, which more closely resembles that of human milk and makes it easier to digest.
- the low ph level of goat milk is close to our skins own ph, making it a very gentle cleanser.
- goat milk also contains alph-hydroxy acids, which are known for their restorative and rejuvenating qualities.
- naturally occurring enzymes gently work to exfoliate skin, leaving it healthier and smoother.

Hittin' the road

Farmers markets and craft shows are just around the corner! I will once again be attending the Lodi farmers markets on Fridays, 2-6pm. Also the Watertown market, Tuesdays, 7-12. I'm not sure of the start dates yet. I will be doing two new shows in June. June 6, Dragon Art Fair in DeForest and June 27 & 28, Pecks Farm Market in Spring Green at the same time as downtown Spring Greens Art Fair. I am sorry to say that I won't be at the Princeton Flea market this year, but I do have my own studio here near Fox Lake where you can come and buy your soaps. I will just need a call before you come. Also if you are passing through the city of Fox Lake you can stop at Unsers Gifts and purchase them there. Jim Unser has a flea market in his parking lot on Saturdays too. The photo above is from a trip we took on the Rustic Roads of Wisconsin. This road runs along the Wisconsin River and goes from Portage to near the Dells. You can stop and see a musuem of Aldo Leopold on this road.

Lilac Breeze Soap

I thought I would show a little bit of how the cold process of soapmaking looks. The oils are combined with a lye/water mixture and blended until it thickens. After that I add the fragrance, color and pour. When the soap mixture is in the molds I get to play around with the colors till they are swirled together to make a beautiful display. Relax Refresh Revive

The wood stove is our favorite place in the house during winter. Not just for Sammy but for everyone else too. The warmth of a fire is so relaxing. The tension of the cold just falls away. I do my reading, or listen to the radio here. Our family has many thought provoking discussions in this room. Once we relax in Gods care we begin to see things differently. We become aware of sunsets, mountains, trees and generous portions of sunlight. (from; I love being a woman. By Patsy Clairmont). Today I would like to offer you a recipe for making a body scrub. You will feel so new after using this. I love to use it as much as possible!
Homemade Scrubs
3/4 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. ground oatmeal
1/4 c. honey
3/4-1 c. oil of choice(jojoba, grapeseed, sweet almond)
1/4 t. fragrance or essential oils(optional, smells great alone)
Blend dry ingredients together. Add liquid ingredients. Stir till combined. Use while in the shower, tub or over the sink for your face alone. Rub mixture all over. Skin will feel great! Skin that is exfoliated will absorb lotion better and look healthier. I have discontinued my salt scrubs but I will have a new body scrub soon. What fragrance would you like to see in a body scrub? Packer Backer Soap

Todays soap is Packer Backer Soap. Usually it has the fragrance of lemon lime but this batch is made with citrus pine. This is a temporary change. I am trying to use up some fragrances that I haven't used yet so I can make room for more. This is so nice for men, mainly pine scent comes through. How about a valentines gift for the man in your life. I can wrap it up in a cello bag with hearts on it. Just be sure to put "gift bag" in the comments section of the order. Oh and that reminds me, the comments have to be added after all your shopping cart selections are made or it will be erased as you go back and forth to shop. Tip: Hand & Heel balm is still the best thing for those dry heals. Forget about trying to use vaseline. Put balm on your dry and cracking hands or feet at bedtime and wake up with softer skin. Other uses include expectant tummies, babies bottoms, paper cuts, elbows and cuticles. If you have a beauty tip just leave it for all to see in the comments section below.

Well as I start off the week of a new year I will be working on soaps to get my inventory back after a busy Christmas season. I still have everything in stock but stock is low. My newest soap is a chocolate beer soap that I will be offering for Valentines day. Its my regular beer soap with just a bit of chocolate fragrance. Its all done and ready to go, if you can't wait until I get it on the website you can email me. Just a heads up to all those who are used to seeing my at the Garden Expo in Madison, I won't be attending this year. If you place an order during those days I will give you a 20% discount. Just let me know in your comments section of your order. Tip: If you have flyaway hair(like me) you can use a little of my natural lotion to calm static. Just rub a small amount in your hands and smooth over hair.

Have you seen this lady before? She is the infamous screen door and window painter at the famous Princeton Flea Market. We were both at the Holy Hill craft show in September. Its obviously late in the day because earlier it was so crowded! I wish I could've taken a photo of the crowd but I was too busy! Hi Anna! She is on her way over to buy fabulous soaps from me. She loves to take baths with Nag Champa soap. I use the nag champa in the dog soap but that doesn't bother her. Its great for people too!

Our God rules nature—nature does not control God. The Creator spread out the stars in the heavens and set the foundations of the earth. He covered it with water and then set the boundaries of the seas. He assigned the rivers to their places in the mountains. He provides water to all living things. God causes grass and plants to grow. He provides nutrition and lodging for His creatures. He enables us to cultivate and work the earth so we, in return, will glorify Him.

The Lord has given us proof through nature that He exists and that He provides for His creation. My faith increases when I stop to think about the miraculous beauty of nature. If God can take care of the mighty heavens and the spinning earth, then I know He is able to take care of me.

The day before

The day before a show can be hectic or it can be relaxing depending upon how organized I am. This week I have everything ready on this day before. I had a show last week so I have all ready gone through all my displays and set-ups to know where they are and to work out all the bugs. I even had a couple days this week to work on wholesale orders. I am doing a show that I've never done before so I am just wondering how successful it will be. I know there will be some good competition there. I will be at Holy Hill which is set in the woods. With the fall colors approaching and the cool weather it will be a perfect setting.
